Only Happy…

Disclaimer: "Only Happy When It Rains" belongs to Garbage...I'm just borrowing. Same thing to Willow, Spike, and the rest of the gang. (I'm borrowing them from Joss, not Garbage. ;) )
Willow had found the black leather pants and the green see-through shirt in the back of her closet. She had only worn it once in an effort to get Oz back, which had failed. Now Tara had left her and once again, she felt alone in her life. Her red hair swirled around her as she danced at the Bronze, her technique much improved. Various people, women and men, came up to her to dance with her, but she barely noticed. Willow had decided she wouldn't drink this time, she wouldn't cast spells. But she would drown in a crowd of people and try to wish away her life onto some other unfortunate being. She and Tara had been together for three years, happily for three years, and then everything began to collapse on each other. Tara and Buffy had gotten into an argument about Willow, who had been shocked to hear Tara yell at the blonde. Refusing to get involved in the verbal war, Willow stayed outside and was comforted by Xander. Buffy chose to end her relationship with Willow as a best friend that day.
Just a few days later after the argument, Xander had experienced some problems with Anya and Willow tried to help both of them out. It was discovered that through a truth spell, where both parties were supposed to truthfully say they loved each other, Anya had decided that Xander wasn't enough for her. Xander blamed Willow for the Xander-Anya break up that happened the next morning. He was convinced that if she hadn't interfered, Anya would have at least stayed with him for the sex.
So confusing. Tara hadn't gotten upset, visibly, with Willow for anything, but then the week after Xander removed Willow from his life, Tara left. She packed her things during the night and was gone before Willow woke up. Three years.
Three beautiful years.
Willow, tired from dancing, walked over to one of the couches and curled up in a corner. The couch was in the shadows and the shadows were where Willow wanted to take refuge from all the events.
Spike sauntered into the club, practically grimacing at the heavy doses of perfume and blue eyeshadow. He sniffed the air and caught a scent of the witch.
I wonder what she's doin' here by her lonesome. Can't sense the slayer or the village idiot anywhere... Lighting a cigarette, he glided over to where Willow was curled up. The sight made him cringe---a beautiful girl, unknowing of all her wonders, hurt and betrayed once more by her so-called friends. He ran a hand lightly over her hair and smiled warmly when she looked up with her emerald eyes at him.
"I know all about it, pet. Stupid idiots, all of them, for leaving such an amazing creature behind. Best thing that happened to all of their lives." Best thing that ever happened to mine...besides when I found m'car. But if I forgot that...
Willow smiled sadly at him, then glanced towards the stage where the band started playing a new song. Spike saw his chance, got rid of his cigarette, and took Willow from the couch to the dance floor.
"Come on, pet. Give a brave bloke a chance at some happiness." Blue, glittering eyes met emerald cautious ones, and charmed the emerald gems to twinkle with mischief.
“I'm only happy when it rains
I'm only happy when it's complicated
and though I know you can't appreciate it I'm only happy when it rains
you know I love it when the news is bad
and why it feels so good to feel so sad
I'm only happy when it rains”
Spike and Willow danced with each other in a way that could only have been described as the actions of one. Willow, with her eyes closed, found a great deal of tension had disappeared with Spike's arrival, and a feeling-one that had always been there, but weak- growing in its power.
Spike watched the witch with compassion in his eyes, but underneath the compassion was a wanting, yearning to hold that body against his, to protect it from all else in the world.
“pour your misery down...
pour your misery down on me
pour your misery down...
pour your misery down on me”
Spike pulled Willow closer to him and into the shadows. She sank into his arms, weariness finally being revealed. Rubbing her back, he placed his head against her hair and tightened his embrace.
“I'm only happy when it rains
I feel good when things are going wrong
I only listen to the sad sad songs
I'm only happy when it rains”
I'm not as sad. I need him. He's always been here, through some of Oz, through Tara, through college, through the scoobies. He's always been here. "Why?" she voiced out loud.
"Why what, pet?"
"Why have you cared when no one else did?" she asked softly.
Spike smiled against her head and then moved her slightly away and looked into her eyes. "Guess, pet. You only get one chance, though."
“I only smile in the dark
my only comfort is the night gone black
I didn't accidentally tell you that
I'm only happy when it rains
you'll get the message by the time I'm through when I complain about me and you
I'm only happy when it rains”
He can't be suggesting what I think he's been suggesting. Cuz, why did he wait so long? Why didn't he say something earlier? I really wish he'd stop smiling like that. Such wonderful lips...I wonder what they taste like...I mean...oh, I might as well try. I've got nothing left to lose besides the only person left that's my friend...oh, what do I do...
“pour your misery down...
pour your misery down on me
pour your misery down...
pour your misery down on me
pour your misery down...
pour your misery down on me
pour your misery down
you can keep me company as long as you don't care”
Is she gonna dare? She has the backbone somewhere, the fire inside. I've seen it, fed it, wanted it. Come on, pet. Just chance it. Take a risk and be rewarded...Willow...
Spike was interrupted in his thoughts by Willow's lips on his own. Momentarily after that, he took control, taking what he always wanted. When Willow finally pulled back for air, she smirked and questioned, "Did I guess right?"
Spike smiled at her cheeky look and put his arm around her waist. "Come on, pet. Let's get out of here." When they exited the Bronze, Spike looked up at the clouds and muttered, "It's bloody pouring out."
Willow jumped into the sheets of rain and said to him, "I love the rain, Spike. Dance with me in the rain."
“I'm only happy when it rains
you wanna hear about my new obsession
I'm riding high upon a deep depression
I'm only happy when it rains”
Spike picked Willow up by the waist and breathed deep of her scent. Twirling her around, he replied, "I think I could grow to like the rain, too, pet. As long as you're here with me."
Willow smiled down at the blue-eyed vampire, all weariness gone, all sadness dissipated. *I could get used to this* she thought happily.
“pour some misery down on me”
