Confrontation

He sat there, bracing himself for the fallout.
Damn, he should have seen this coming. The twin feelings of failure and self-recrimination dogged him yet again.
When was he going to learn? He should know better.
He had been accused of being perceptive, but he felt like he’d been totally blind to what was happening. Blinded by circumstances, by a need to focus on something entirely different.
He looked at her. She was lovely, grew lovelier to him each day.
The depth of his love and caring were causing his heart to ache. Or was that his non-existent soul? The oddest feelings came his way when he thought of her.
Perhaps he felt this way because he had been focusing only on how he felt, not her.
He had been caught up in what was happening to him and had essentially left her behind. It was not a good feeling, when it was all said in done.
She was there. She had always been there, and he had only himself to blame.
He took in a deep breath, “L’il Bit, we’re gonna have ourselves a talk about nicking other people’s stuff…”
