Top Drawer
By Hannah
"I'll be back at three. Anya, you can go whenever you like but make sure he doesn't get into my stuff, ok?" Xander shot Spike a stern look but only succeeded in making the vampire cock an eyebrow appraisingly.
"Your stuff? You mean the pile of dirty clothes? Or the top drawer of your side table... you know, the one full of condoms and-"
"Hey! You looked in my top drawer!" Xander accused, trying to hide his embarrassment. He was pretty sure it wasn't working though, as he could feel the heat spreading across his face.
"I never did such a thing." Spike said, pretending to be aghast. "Your girlfriend told me." He grinned again and wandered over to the red chair, leaving Anya to fend for herself.
"Anya! We don't show undead British guys my drawer!" Xander appeared to have forgotten about leaving, and was nowhere near the spot he'd been in earlier, poised in the doorframe...
She shrugged. "He asked if you owned anything interesting. I happen to find the contents of that top drawer very interesting."
Spike was slightly surprised that she wasn't on her knees begging the boy's forgiveness. Maybe the droopy kid's sex toy wasn't so bad after all. "Pretty good assortment of stuff you got there. For a human." Spike said from across the room, settled in the chair.
"Hey! Just because I don't consider burning rods and metal spikes key objects in a night of kinky fun doesn't mean I don't enjoy some... you know, I don't even wanna go there." He said, one hand prodding the air for dramatic effect.
Anya looked very bored, and seemed to be more interested in the back of her hand than her blushing boyfriend. Spike noted this and had a sudden desire to get rid of the floppy youth and have a chat with her. "Don't you have a vat of grease to dump things into?"
"I do, actually." Xander said, trying to appear proud of it. His dignity was riding on worse and worse things these days... "So I'm gonna go. And leave that top drawer alone." Just as he stepped out the door, he seemed to remember something and turned around. "That goes for you too." He pointed at his girlfriend with his free hand, and after watching her roll her eyes, closed the door behind him.
"Is 'e normally so red?" Spike asked, sprawling out a bit in the chair, his legs touching the edge of Xander's bed.
Anya looked up from her hand. "Actually, he is a lot of the time. Sad, isn't it?"
"The kid's a soddin' messy lump. Why d'you shag the git?" Spike asked her.
She frowned, and sat on one side of the unmade bed. "Not really sure. Oh, I remember." She smiled contentedly and bounced a bit while she said, "He took me to our prom. That means we have to date."
"Now I 'aven't been to a prom in a while, pet -I suppose feeding at one doesn't count- but I seem to recall that it... doesn't."
"Really? Oh." Anya looked a little taken aback, but her default nonplussed disposition took over soon enough.
"Wish I could 'urt 'umans." Spike muttered. "'E'd be one of the first to go."
"If I was still a demon, and someone else was me, every time he fell asleep in the middle of sex, I'd take away all the hair he has and make him purple." Anya said.
Spike raised his eyebrows. "Appealing, pet. So tell me, you've seen more of the world than I 'ave…what's the grossest demon you've ever seen?"
"Skeum. The ones with the tendrils that pop up everywhere. And they're the ugliest color. Mucus, puss, and-"
"'Ad one working for me once. I remember the smell." Spike cut in.
"It was like someone had shoved my head up a horse's ass." Anya recollected, wrinkling her nose.
Spike laughed and moved to the bed. "I told that to one of 'em once."
"Really? Did they do that annoying thing where their tendrils goes stiff and start dripping the mucus on the floor around them until they're in a puddle of the stuff?"
"Yeah. Burnt a 'ole right through the floor. Stupid method of defense if you ask me, because he fell right through the 'ole 'e made!" They both laughed at the memories of the Skeum they'd come into contact with throughout their extensive lives. "What about vampires?" Spike asked, gazing at her sideways.
Anya lay back on the bed, propped up by her elbows. "Depends. Minions I can't stand. So stupid. They copy their masters and try saying witty things, but always wind up killed in the end. But the ones higher up in status..."
"What about 'em?"
She was still gazing aimlessly into space, and said simply. "They look nice."
"Really. 'ow so?"
"Nice skin... well you know... it changes. At least they don't get all red and blotchy half the time."
Spike ignored the reference to Xander and pressed on. "What about me?"
"You're nicely shaped." She said, looking him up and down first.
"That it?"
"Well what do you want me to say? That's what I think." She replied.
Spike looked away, seeming to have a great interest in the left pocket of his duster. "I always liked vengeance demons." Anya looked surprised, but didn't say anything. "The things they could do to 'umans. God, the things they could do to 'umans..." He looked dreamily off at the stairway, quite obviously thinking of all the horrible things he'd seen put upon unfaithful people in his time.
"It really was nice..." Anya agreed. "I just didn't like being all wrinkly. I mean, then I didn't mind, but now I know what being smooth is like. And I enjoy it."
Spike returned her gaze and smiled. "I'm 'appy you're not wrinkly either."
"So you find me attractive?"
"Per'aps." Spike said coyly, his smiling eyes betraying his slightly unhappy-looking mouth.
Anya couldn't help smiling. This vampire had what she loved most about his species - the ability to be irresistible doing *anything*. He was doing so well she was already thinking about kissing him. "I'm thinking about kissing you." She said, waiting for the next thought to arrive in her head so she could say it. Wasn't that the whole point of talking? To let other people know what you were thinking? As a demon, she'd always communicated with thoughts. So now she simply voiced them aloud.
Spike's face slowly spread into a grin, and Anya thought he looked like a cat right then, but didn't say it because she wanted to hear his reply. The vampire turned so his whole body was facing hers, his duster caught under his laid-down body. "Funny thing, luv... so was I." It was whispered but audible, with that throaty edge she'd only ever heard him use when talking to Buffy (when they were engaged, of course).
"Well then I think we should." She stated, nodding her head in a businesslike manner. His icy clear blue eyes bore into hers, but she welcomed the stare and just kept on looking right back.
Neither went first. They both went at the same time. Their lips met halfway and at first it was clumsy and awkward, like a couple of 13-year-olds on their parent's doorstep after their first date. But experience and a sort of growing need prevailed and suddenly they just fit. They lost themselves in the kiss. Spike pondered why her lipstick didn't taste as horrible as most women's and how he could get his pants off while his boots were still on. Anya pondered why she hadn't simply done this before to him.
Spike slid his hand around her warm neck, massaging the base of her scalp. The scent of her hair (a sort of musty earthy smell, that he liked much more than strawberry fields in spring -for obvious reasons-) wafted around the room, and the heady smell of their arousals intoxicated him further.
Anya couldn't smell that, but she could smell the leather and the *very* manly smell of the vampire that was currently... beneath her. No, now he was on top. She grinned into his mouth as her hair clip poked his wandering fingers, and she pulled it out easily, freeing her hair.
Spike drew back for a moment and looked down at her. Lips red, cheeks flushed (this amused him, remembering her comment about disliking Xander's tendency to get red), hair spread around her head like a halo. Grinning, he reached out and moved her hair so it made the shape of two horns. Much better. He looked down at her shirt and, noticing it was only buttoned up, sighed in relief, as he wouldn't have to mess up her hair to get it off. "Can we continue?" She asked impatiently.
Moving back down to the kiss, Spike slid his tongue into her dazzlingly warm mouth, and undid her shirt so slowly she didn't notice until she felt the cool fabric of his shirt pressed against her skin. "Off." She demanded into the kiss, tugging on the fabric.
"Then I gotta stop, pet." Spike replied, sitting up again. As she pouted and waited, he pulled his duster and shirt off, tossing them to the floor.
Anya smiled. "You are *very* nicely shaped." Her hands ran over the muscles defined in his upper arms and trailed down to his stomach. She touched Spike's belt and felt him tense momentarily, despite his cool disposition. Ignoring it, she undid the belt and pulled the pants down his thighs, but couldn't get them much farther.
"Shit." Spike muttered, moving off her so he could remove his boots. Once they were off he turned back to her to find all of her clothes removed. "That was fast."
"I've practiced." Anya said. Smiling, she looked down below his waistline. "Very nicely shaped..." She trailed off, before pulling him down again. As the two of them drew together, his cool touch making her tingle, she wondered lazily if Xander would notice some things missing from the top drawer…
